016 FINE ART (For Both School
and Private Students)
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This Fine Art format for the Form
Two National Assessment is aligned with the Fine Art Syllabus for Ordinary
Secondary Education 2023, issued by the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE).
This Format focuses on the competences acquired by students at Form One and Two
levels. The format emphasises a comprehensive evaluation of higher-order
thinking skills and practical skills as highlighted in the current syllabus.
2.0 MAIN COMPETENCES
The assessment will test
students' ability to:
2.1 demonstrate mastery of concepts, theories and principles
of Fine Art;
2.2 create simple works of Fine Art; and
2.3 demonstrate mastery of the principles of occupational health and
environmental care in Fine Art.
3.0 ASSESSMENT RUBRIC
The assessment will consist of
two papers: 016/1 Fine Art 1 (Theory) and 016/2 Fine Art 2 (Practical).
3.1 016/1 Fine Art 1 (Theory)
This assessment paper will last
2:30 hours. For students with special needs, the duration of the assessment
will be 2:55 hours. This paper will be divided into sections A, B and C with a
total of 10 questions. The paper will carry a total of 100 marks.
Section A will
comprise two (2) questions. Question 1 will be a multiple-choice question
consisting of 10 items, each carrying one (1) mark, making a total of 10 marks.
Question 2 will be a matching-item question consisting of five items, each
worth one (1) mark, making a total of five (5) marks. Therefore, the section
will carry a total of 15 marks.
Section B will
comprise seven (7) short answer questions. Students will be required to answer
all questions. Each question will weigh ten (10) marks, making a total of 70
marks.
Section C will
consist of one (1) essay question, carrying 15 marks.
3.2 016/2 Fine Art 2
(Practical)
This assessment will be a
practical paper with a duration of 5:00 hours and 5:50 hours for students with
special needs. The paper will consist of two (2) questions. Students will be
required to answer all questions, each worth 50 marks. Hence, the whole paper
will carry a total of 100 marks.
Note: The National
Examinations Council of Tanzania will provide:
- (a) A checklist of required materials for the
assessment at least three months before the assessment date.
- (b) 3 Hours Advance Instructions before the
assessment for preliminary arrangements.
4.0 COMPETENCES TO BE ASSESSED
4.1 016/1 Fine Art 1
The students will be assessed on
their ability to:
4.1.1 Demonstrate mastery of
concepts, theories and principles of Fine Art.
- 4.1.1.1 demonstrate an understanding of the
concepts, theories and principles of Fine Art; and
- 4.1.1.2 demonstrate an understanding of Traditional
forms of Fine Art in Tanzania.
4.1.2 Create simple works of
fine art.
- 4.1.2.1 making decorations; and
- 4.1.2.2 using traditional and modern techniques to
create works of art.
4.1.3 Demonstrate mastery of
the principles of occupational health and environmental care in Fine Art.
- 4.1.3.1 dispose waste from Fine Art activities; and
- 4.1.3.2 demonstrate an understanding of ethical
conduct in Fine Art.
4.2 016/2 Fine Art 2
The students will be assessed on
their ability to Create simple works of fine art.
- 4.2.1 Making decorations.
- 4.2.1.1 using traditional and modern techniques to
create works of art.
