The government has announced a total of 41,500 job vacancies in various cadres including education, health, defense, agriculture, livestock and fishing, while instructing the Employment Secretariat to complete the process of filling them all by November this year. Speaking to journalists today, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Service Offices located in Mtumba in Dodoma, the Secretary General of the Office of the President – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Juma Mkomi, said that these jobs have been specifically allocated to fill the large shortage of public servants in the country.

According to Mkomi, the cadres that will benefit include: Education: 12,176 places Health (Local Governments): 10,280 posts Agriculture: 470 positions Livestock: 312 positions Fishing: 47 positions Security Forces (Police, Prisons, Fire and Immigration): 7,000 posts In addition, various other cadres will also be given priority.

Mkomi has directed the Employment Secretariat to also complete the process of 45,000 jobs that were not filled for the financial year 2024/2025, in parallel with the new jobs for the year 2025/2026, before arriving in November this year. He added that the Government is currently facing a shortage of approximately 280,000 employees, and that efforts are being made to issue new employment permits to reduce the gap.
