ANNOUNCEMENT OF TRAINING SLOTS FOR DIPLOMA IN TEACHER EDUCATION FOR PRE-PRIMARY AND PRIMARY EDUCATION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/2027

QUALIFICATIONS TO JOIN TEACHER TRAINING

a) Qualifications to join the Diploma in Teacher Education for Pre-primary and Primary Education (2 years):

(i) Form Six leavers (Form 6) with passes of Grades I-III achieving two (2) Principal Passes; and

(ii) Teachers who have completed Certificate in Teacher Education for Pre-primary or Primary Education. Furthermore, successful applicants for this training will be assigned to streams based on their performance in the National Teacher Certificate Examination.

b) Qualifications to join the Special Diploma in Teacher Education for Primary Education (3 years) are Form Four leavers (Form 4) with passes of Grades I-III achieving a grade of “C” or higher in three subjects, two of which must be from: Basic Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Information and Computer Studies, or Computer Science.

c) Qualifications to join the Diploma in Teacher Education for Pre-primary and Primary Education via Distance Learning (3 to 4 years) are teachers who have completed Certificate in Teacher Education for Pre-primary or Primary Education.

Teacher Training Colleges intending to conduct Distance Learning Teacher Training must adhere to the conditions outlined in the Guidelines for the Delivery of Pre-primary and Primary Teacher Diploma Training via Distance Learning (February 2026) issued by the Commissioner for Education.
