ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE SECOND
PHASE OF LOANS FOR YOUTH
In implementing the commitment
made by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United
Republic of Tanzania, to provide TZS 200 billion to youth within 100 days of
assuming office, the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries hereby informs the
public that the Second Phase of the provision of affordable loans to youth
has commenced.
The objective of these loans is
to enable youth to access capital to establish and expand small and
medium-sized businesses, as well as start-up companies, thereby creating
self-employment opportunities in the Livestock and Fisheries sectors.
The loans will be provided in the
form of equipment and production inputs, including:
- Cage fish farming;
- Poultry farming, including improved breeds, layers,
and broilers;
- Goat, sheep, and pig farming;
- Boats for servicing fish cages;
- Fishing boats and fishing equipment;
- Cold-chain systems for fisheries products;
- Fish hatchery systems for the production of
fingerlings;
- Fisheries product processing systems and equipment,
including dryers for small pelagic fish and seaweed.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the
following requirements:
i. Submit an application letter
together with a duly completed application form;
ii. Be between 18 and 35 years
of age;
iii. Be a resident of the area
where the proposed project will be implemented and provide a letter of
confirmation from the Local Government/Village Executive Officer;
iv. Provide proof of Tanzanian
citizenship, such as a National Identification (NIDA) card or NIDA number,
voter’s card, driving licence, birth certificate, or passport;
v. Apply either as an individual,
a youth-owned company, a cooperative society, or a group registered with the
respective Local Government Authority;
vi. Provide letters and NIDA
identification documents of two (2) guarantors recognized by the
Government authorities, who will be responsible for repaying the loan in the
event that the beneficiary violates the loan terms and conditions;
vii. Submit a project proposal
explaining the requirements and needs of the proposed project in accordance
with the projects listed in this announcement;
viii. Have no outstanding or
non-performing loans from any financial institution or other institution in the
country; and
ix. Provide a Taxpayer
Identification Number (TIN) for companies.
Applicants are strongly urged to
ensure that their applications are fully completed and comply with all the
requirements specified above.

Government Authority on or before 14 September 2026.
