Explanation of NECTA Star Codes Used in Results

NECTA uses special symbols (star codes) to explain the status of candidates’ results. Their meanings are as follows:

*S (Suspended): Results suspended pending clarification due to anomalies in candidate details, involvement in examination irregularities, or failure of a center to meet registration requirements (e.g., centers with fewer than 35 candidates).

*E (Withheld): Results withheld pending proof of payment of examination fees.

*I (Incomplete): Results are incomplete due to missing Continuous Assessment (CA) scores in all subjects offered.

*W (Withheld/Cancelled): Results cancelled due to confirmed involvement in dishonesty or examination irregularities before, during, or after the examination.

*T (Transferred): Results for specific subject(s) transferred to the previous year after confirmation that the candidate was ill during the examination.

*ABS (Absent): Candidate did not sit for the examination.

*FLD (Failed): Candidate failed the examination.

*X: Candidate did not appear for the registered subject.
